BATAC CITY– Some 1,049 farmers in Ilocos Norte received their indemnity crop insurance claims Wednesday from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) in Region 1 in a simple ceremony held at Teatro Ilocandia of the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in this city.

Raul A. Servito, Officer-in-Charge of PCIC Region 1, said the group comprised the second batch of 2,324 farmers, whose crops were severely damaged by Typhoons Carding, Luis and Ompong, and were entitled to receive benefits from the PCIC program.

The first batch of 1,275 farmers already received their claims yesterday (November 27) in Dingras town and each received an average of PHP10,000, Servito said, adding that most of them have received a maximum of PHP38,000.
