THROUGH the Davao City Agriculture’s Office (CAO), three farmer cooperatives growing Cardava bananas were matched with the Southern Agro Export Corporation (Sagrex) who is currently looking for stable sources of Cardava bananas to be used for their exported frozen turon.
Sagrex Corporation started out as a trading and export company in Davao City during the 1980s. It started out with buying and selling of agricultural crops such as rice and corn, coffee, and copra among others. Now after more than 30 years of being in the agricultural industry, the company had also started exporting frozen turon to the United States and Singapore.
According to CAO officer-in-charge Leo Brian Leuterio during their talks with the management of Sagrex Corporation, the company also plans to expand their export to Dubai. With that they would need more sufficient supply of Cardava banana that will be sustainable for their 3-month secure supply.
