QUEZON CITY, July 8 — For the current 2020 wet season, the Department of Agriculture (DA) under its Rice Resiliency Project (RRP) provides participating farmers free quality inbred and hybrid rice seeds, and urea (46-0-0 NPK) fertilizer.
Forming part of the DA’s umbrella program, popularly called “Plant Plant Plant,” the RRP aims to increase the country’s rice production, from last year’s adequacy level of 87 percent (%) to 94% by end of 2020, equivalent to 20.341 million metric tons (MMT) of palay or 13.303 MMT of rice.
The RRP is expected to contribute an incremental harvest of 1.578 MMT of rice, roughly 12% of the projected 2020 production.
