All the regional heads of the Department of Agriculture (DA) were told to intervene and help address the dilemma faced by farmers and raisers in terms of transporting their products from their farms to markets, which started since the coronavirus-triggered lockdown has been placed.
In a statement, Agriculture Secretary William Dar directed all DA regional heads to take action on concerns received by his office regarding problems on the transport of agricultural products.
We will not allow that all the products that farmers worked hard for will just go to waste, Dar said.
Since last week, the DA’s regional field offices (RFO) have started coordinating with farmers and food producers who need assistance in the transport and selling of various agriculture produce.
