Flood in Victorias prompts dredging of clogged rivers

THE flooding incident that earlier hit Victorias City and its neighboring towns and cities last New Year’s Day revelry has prompted 3rd District Represenative Jose Francisco Benitez, Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 1st Engineering District, DPWH Regional Office IV and the Office of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson to initiate tangible measures to address the problem that impacted on many families, properties and agricultural crops.

It has succeeded in prompting the DPWH to lend the Victorias local government unit (LGU), the amphibious hydraulic excavator that began to declog rivers and streams that have been blocked by siltation, garbage and plants that thrived on silted areas.

The provincial and local officials graced the beginning of the dredging operation, which started at Carugiat River located in the southern portion of Victorias City.
