LAOAG CITY — The provincial government of Ilocos Norte has recognized at least 57 individuals and organizations for their contribution to the province’s agricultural and fisheries sector.
In an awarding ceremony for its annual Provincial Gawad Saka incentive program here on Thursday, the Ilocos Norte government gave PHP5,000 to each individual awardee and PHP8,000 for each organization.
Today is not an ordinary day for us because we are honoring the men and women in their fields of endeavor. Despite the series of typhoons, Ilocos Norte has sustained its self-sufficiency level, except for some high-value crops, like okra and cabbage, Provincial Agriculture Officer Norma Lagmay said at the event.
