MARABUT, SAMAR – The agricultural assistance extended by the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 8 (DA-RFO-8) based in Tacloban City, is now modernizing the farming activities of the beneficiaries, report from the office of the municipal mayor of this town said here Friday.
Marabut Mayor Elizabeth S. Ortillo told Manila Bulletin that the farm equipment, agricultural supplies, and work animals extended this year to her town greatly helped the farmers in modernizing their farming activities.
She added that the aid initiative will greatly help in the economic recovery of the town and will further expedite the recovery of the agriculture sector which was badly damaged by super typhoon Yolanda in 2013 with many farmers displaced and lost their farming livelihood. “With the assistance extended to us by the department of agriculture, I am confident that our farming systems and food production endeavors damaged by the super typhoon can recover faster this year,” the mayor said.
