MANILA — The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) has so far distributed 512 pieces of farm machines in six regions that form part of the PHP2-billion worth of machines that were successfully bid out and purchased by the agency early this year.
PhilMech Executive Director Baldwin Jallorina, in a virtual presser Friday, said the agency is currently bidding out the next batch of farm machines worth at least PHP5 billion, of which PHP3 billion forms part of those supposed to be acquired in 2019.
Before the end of the year, he said PhilMech will bid out another PHP3 billion to complete the PHP5 billion worth of machines to be distributed this year under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Mechanization Component.
