Stable NIA dams to continue releasing irrigation water

THE National Irrigation Administration (NIA) said irrigation water would continue to flow from dams in Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya even after a 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck Luzon on April 22.

THE National Irrigation Administration (NIA) said irrigation water would continue to flow from dams in Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya even after a 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck Luzon on April 22.

The NIA said it inspected the dams in the two provinces and found that these remain stable and did not sustain major damage.

The National Irrigation Administration Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation Systems [NIA-UPRIIS] assures the stability of NIA dams in Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya under its operation and maintenance, despite the experienced earthquake on April 22, NIA-UPRIIS Acting Department Manager Rosalinda B. Bote said in a statement released on Wednesday evening.
