THE country’s poverty targets may not be met if infrastructure projects and other key reforms do not push through by next year, according to economists.
The government aims to cut poverty incidence to around 14 percent by 2022, from 21.6 percent in 2015. This means lifting around 6 million Filipinos out of poverty.
This estimate was based on the attainment of a 7-8 percent GDP growth in real terms and increase per capita income to $5,000 by 2022 from $3,550 in 2015.
