CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela The City Agriculture Office (CAO) here said corn farmers are now shifting to cassava farming due to huge losses brought by calamities in the city.

City agriculturist Rufino Arcega said corn farmers has seen the advantage of planting cassava considering the small capital compared to corn farming which needed huge capital.

Arcega said there are already 3,200 hectares planted with cassava in the city. He said the characteristics of cassava of being a drought-resistant crop might have been one of the considerations, and the other is smaller capital for shifting to cassava farming.
